Since its establishment in 1985, Sikh Students’ Association at the University of Toronto, St. George Campus (SSA UTSG) has been responsible for promoting an understanding of Sikhism to over 50 000 students registered yearly at the university. SSA UTSG is a non-profit organization that is managed by the voluntary actions of Toronto university students and thrives on the continuous support of the Sikh youth and community at large.

SSA UTSG’s main mission is to promote awareness of the Sikh faith to Sikhs and non-Sikhs alike. It is our ongoing effort to organize various events that put into fruition and reflect the many core principles of Sikhism. Some of our past events include Sikh Awareness Days, charity events with Red Cross, Sikhs Against Genocide and community outreach activities with other interfaith student groups. SSA UTSG is centrally networked with university Sikh student associations nationwide and participates in many inter-university leadership conferences, Kirtan Darbaars, so to provide a large-scale platform for discussion and deliberation.

SSA UTSG has grown successfully each year, helping the association both strengthen and shape its vision – a vision which fosters continuity and solidarity as an organization, tremendous Sikh awareness at every level and an expansion in both the caliber and frequency of its events. This year, together as an association, we are ever more determined to stride closer in embracing this vision.
